Who We Are

Hatzolah – Caring for the Community

Our primary goal is to provide a lifesaving bridge of medical care during the first critical moments of a medical emergency before the arrival of an Ambulance, whilst catering to the unique needs of the Jewish Community. We provide comfort to the patient and their family, and prevent additional injury or further deterioration of the patient’s health.

Since our inception in June 2006, we have responded to over 5000 calls for help. Our calls cover the vast spectrum of medical emergencies from the severe trauma of road accidents, to falls and respiratory distress, and we have equally responded to day old infants and those past their 100th birthday.

Hatzolah members are all equipped with life-saving medical equipment, including Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs), Oxygen and resuscitation devices, trauma management accessories, Epipens, Ventolin, Glucose and Penthrox. All Hatzolah members have the advanced training and skill necessary to provide competent medical and emergency care.

Hatzolah members are all linked to a dispatch centre via a sophisticated two-way radio communication system, and stand ready to respond to all medical emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

HOW TO CALL

In a medical emergency: Call (02) 9371 2222
  1. Your call will be answered by one of our professional dispatchers. You will be asked a series of questions which are necessary for us to determine the nature of the emergency, and provide the most appropriate response. Some of these questions may be:
    • What is the problem?
    • What is the location of the emergency?
    • What is your telephone number?
    • Is the patient responsive? Breathing? Bleeding?
  2.  The dispatcher will then send the closest Hatzolah units to the location and inform you of the expected arrival time. Hatzolah Sydney has an average response time of 4 minutes in the Eastern Suburbs.
  3. Our dispatchers will also call the NSW Ambulance Service.
